Our Services

Our Services

The following services are available to members:

 Loan Facilities:

• Regular Loan: Repayment is through deduction from the source

• Household Loan: This is operated in two different but related ways. Members may wish to apply for the loan in cash or request that the household items be paid for by the Society. In which case repayment is through deduction from the source and within either 6 or 12 months.

• Commodity Loan: Members who are interested in any of the household commodity items on display/in store may apply for it. Where such a commodity is out of stock, the Society can place an order for such. Repayment is through deduction from source within 5 months

• Emergency Loan: This is available to members as the name applies and repayment is direct deposit into the dedicated Society Account. Repayment is within a maximum of four (4) months

• Traveling/Conference Loan: This is for members who have been invited to attend a conference and are awaiting payment by conference organizers. Repayment is in whole and immediately on return from the conference.

Other Services:

a. Rental Services: Repayment is through deduction from the source

• Event Hall: There are 3 Halls of different sitting capacities, available to the public for use at specified amount. The fully Air Conditioned Halls come with Plastic Chairs and Tables.

• Transport Services: The Society has two (2) Buses (a 30 Seater Toyota Bus and a 18 Seater Hieace Bus) and Sienna Car. The vehicles are very road worthy and covers all States of the Federation and other West African Countries. Please go to download menu see Price rates to different locations

b. Consultancy Services: This is intended to assist members in their plans to establish an enterprise of their own.

c. Retirement Savings: Members are encouraged to make deposits for this purpose as this will further enhance their total assets with the Society.

Cooperative Transactions System: a professional tool that is of immense use in our drive to bring TEAM (Transparency, Efficiency, Accountability and Mutual-prosperity) to our members.

Executive Members

President:
Prof. Aderemi O. OGUNFOWOKAN

A Professor of Environmental and Analytical Chemistry. He was Head of Department of Chemistry OAU 2012-2015 and Dean Faculty of Science OAU 2015-2017. He teaches courses in Analytical and Industrial Chemistry. His area of Research is Method Development for the Determination of trace Metals and Organics in Environmental and Biological Samples. He has supervised twelve PhD candidates, many MSc and MPhil Candidates and still counting. Two of his Students that he supervised are full Professors while two are now Associate Professors. He is currently the President of Awovarsity CICS OAU.

Vice-President:
Dr Babalola A. CLARA (Ph.D)

She is a lecturer in the Department of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Osun State, Nigeria. Dr. Babalola earned her Ph.D in Adult Education, her Master of Art in Adult Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and her Bachelor of Arts in Adult Education/ Administration from University of Nigeria Nsukka. Dr. Adejoke Babalola has served as a facilitator in many workshops on professional development of teacher, administrators in tertiary institutions and awareness raising on prevention of sexual violence and abuse among students in tertiary institutions in south-western Nigeria. Her research area covers adult learning, community development, sociology of adult education especially as it relates to women’s issues and rights, access to education and other critical resources, as well as the forms and consequences of women’s resistance to patriarchal cultural practices in Nigeria.

Secretary:
Dr Uchenna B. ANIH

Anih is from the Department of Foreign Languages. He teaches French and Francophone African Literature. He serves as the Secretary of the Society

Treasurer:
Prof. Suraju O. AJADI

Prof. Suraju was born in Ede, Osun State Nigeria over five decades ago.
He was admitted to study B.Sc. Mathematics at the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1989 and was awarded Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mathematics with Second Class Upper Division in 1994. After the mandatory one-year NYSC as Graduate Assistant in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Calabar, he enrolled for and obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in 1999 and 2005 respectively from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
As a young man with a passion for acquiring and imparting knowledge, Suraju Olusegun Ajadi started his academic career in the Department of Mathematics, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as a Graduate Assistant in November 1996. He was regraded to the rank of Assistant Lecturer in 1999 after bagging his M.Sc. degree. In 2001, he became a Lecturer Grade II and in 2003, he became a Lecturer Grade I. He attained the enviable rank of Senior Lecturer in 2006 and was pronounced Reader in 2009. As God Almighty would have it, Dr. Suraju Olusegun Ajadi attained the peak of his career when he was pronounced Fulal Professor of Applied Mathematics by the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in August 2016, effective from October 2012.
Prof. S.O. Ajadi is happily married to Dr.(Mrs) Fatimah Adenike Ajadi, and the union has been blessed with promising children.

Financial Secretary:
Dr Kehinde O. AWOJOBI

He is from the Department of Microbiology. His area of specialization is Industrial and Environmental Microbiology. He serves as the Financial Secretary of the Awovarsity Society.

ASSU Rep:
Prof. Saka O. GBADAMOSI

He obtained B.Sc (Hons) Food Science and Technology in 1995. He then proceeded to the Old Enugu State for his National Youth Service where he worked at Muoneke Rice Processing Factory at Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. After his NYSC, he worked briefly at Ivy Products Nigeria Limited in Lagos before he went back to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife for a Master Degree in 1997. He obtained M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Food Science and Technology in 2000 and 2008, respectively.
Professor Gbadamosi joined the services of Obafemi Awolowo University in 2003 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2017. He has served the University at different levels. He is presently the Deputy Provost of the Postgraduate College and a member of Postgraduate College Board.

IPP (Ex-Officio):
Prof. Victor F. OLALEYE

A Zoologist by training. Prof Olaleye is a Financial and Investment Expert with wealth of experience in running a financial institution. He teaches at the Department of Zoology. He is the immediate past President of the Society.

We discourage payment of cash at the Cooperative office to any of our Cooperative Officer. All members are to use any of the modes of payment stated below.

3. Direct Online Payment from this Mobile App/website. About Us

AWOVARSITY CICS was established in response to the need and call by the National Body of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to put in place an academic staff cooperative society that will see to the welfare of members. The Obafemi Awolowo University Branch of ASUU under the chairmanship of Late Prof. Ukponmwan Ottah established its own in 2002 and as a body became a member of the Society. The Branch unanimously selected Prof. B. Olufokunbi as the pioneer President of the Society. The following were past Presidents of the Society:

The Society presently has a population of 1,039 members. The Society conducts its Annual General Meeting (a.k.a. AGM) and also an Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) as deemed fit. The Society is duly registered with the Osun State Ministry of Commerce and Industry with registration number 5684.
